My demo teaching was successful!!!
I can't contain my happiness! Although there are some comments regarding my demo, it was good in general and the subject coordinator for English was pleased with my presentation!!! The children were all very active. They were also very sweet too! They even circled me just to give me a hug!!! I was so touched by what they did that I'm liking and liking the prospect of teaching children already! Plus, I feel so light while I was teaching them despite my apprehensions and worries!
A huge change of perspective from someone who complained last week how terrified she is to be in front of kids, don't you think?! Hehehe...
But, there's a hill that I have to climb first before finally becoming an English Grade School Teacher. I have to be interviewed by the schools' Directress yet. In order to have a meeting with her, I must submit other legal requirements first to the Human Resource (HR) department, as well as my modules. After that, if I emerge from the interview successfully, then there will already be a contract signing!!! I'm so excited!!!
Back to my demo... Here are the good and the not-so-good points of my demo:
GOOD:
- I have a very loud voice
- I'm very animated
- My visual aids are all good
- My lesson plan is also very good
- My activities are all in sync with the lesson
- The kids are participating
- I have a very pleasing personality
BAD:
- I forgot to start and end my demo with a prayer
- My motivation has no connection at all with my lesson
- I have to be careful with my grammar. Although the subject coordinator told me that when we were having our one-on-one talk, my grammar is very good. Must be the nerves, she said.
That's all I can remember now... Oh well, who would have thought that after many detours and u-turns, I'll still end up as a teacher? I thought before that I'm not going to teach this year but now, I'm eating my words!!! Fate is really something don't you think?
Let's wait and see what will happen in my final interview... Let's hope that I get this job because I'm beginning to love it already =)
Good luck! Teaching is very rewarding.
