The latest F/W season celebrates the return of curves!!!

Which is why Prada and Louis Vuitton opted to dress voluptuous women with clothes that'll accentuate their curves.

Personally, I still think that fashion still embraces the stick-thin models because the runways of major fashion cities still present mostly very thin and no-curves models. I'll take a while for the pendulum to swing back to the days where Cindy and Naomi - both of whom are US Size 8, rule the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris. 

Anyway, the new editorial of V Magazine celebrates the "return of the curves" with this editorial featuring Victoria's Secret models, Miranda Kerr and Karolina Kurkova. But the woman who steal the limelight from these VS vixens is this girl! Jacquelyn is far from curvy but I just love her here! Her exquisite beauty is just so mesmerizing that adding Miranda and Karolina is just a waste of time. Jacquelyn simply outshine them!!!

A New Day

The Philippines and the world witnessed a new chapter in history as Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III was sworn in as the new President of the country at 12 noon at Quirino Grandstand.

He knows that he has a Herculean task ahead of him so I hope that his administration will bring much needed change in the country particularly by winning back the people's trust to the government!

A Sudden Turn

It seems like no matter how hard I try to embark on other opportunities, teaching will always find a way back to my heart! Over the weekend, I found myself sending resumes via email to different educational institutions! This decision wasn't really a drastic one since I've been contemplating about my career choices ever since my fourth interview at the Publishing House. I already shared my disappointment over that one so it was time for me to move on and seek better opportunities! So, I decided to send my resume on a particular school and surprisingly, they responded immediately. They told me early on that even though I stated that I'm a graduate of Secondary Education with a major in History, they are in need of Grade School English Teacher! I decided to still try it and yesterday, I went to their school and had my initial interviews and tests. Now the real challenge will be on Monday, July 5, 2010. I will have my demo teaching in English in front of Grade 1 students! Imagine that! I'm not really into kids so I'm very excited to know on Monday if not only I can pass the demo but also if I can manage them! 

Actually, the thought of teaching English to Grade 1 students is scaring a hell lot of me! I'm very very scared, to be honest! I want to do really good at my demo because I want to prove to myself and to that school that I'm applying to that I can teach! I still have five days to prepare for my lesson plan, powerpoint presentation, visual aids, and modules so I'll be very very busy. 

Hayy... the sudden turn in my life is making me excited, nervous, and scared all at the same time! I just hope that I'll  do great on Monday!

Musings About The Fourth Interview And My Calling

I had my fourth interview with the publishing house last Wednesday. The Personel Officer was kind and she was also very apologetic since I waited for her for almost an hour. She said that there's so much stuff going on and urgent meetings are inevitable. Anyway, she was very easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable with her. Compared to the one who interviewed me last week, she was nicer and approachable. She asked me mostly personal questions and when I felt that it was time for me to drop the bomb, I did. I'm talking about the increase in salary that I so want to have. I told her honestly that I want a higher salary but since I'm a fresh graduate, I can settle with a slightly lower pay. She said that she'll consider it and she needs to deliberate with the interviewer who offered such a low pay last week. She also said that what I'm asking for might raise some few eyebrows specially with their more older employees. Basically, I'm already accepted but the question about my salary still lingers... Will they agree to what I'm asking? 

For me, what I'm asking for is just right. I don't think I'm being too much. I really want a high-paying job, especially with this one. Why? I have three reasons:

• The Publishing House is far from my home. I have to travel an hour and a half to get there. Plus, commuting via jeepneys during rush hour is not a pleasant trip. Even before I get there, my face will be covered with dirt and pollution!
• When I applied here, I didn't know that they operate six days a week! Lo and behold, I will loose my social life and the chance of getting a love life! I think it's just fair that I ask for a better compensation if I get to work more than 8 hours a day, six days a week.
• Lastly, I graduated with a title. I don't want to brag about my achievement but I think that after six years in college, I deserve to have a very good paycheck. Plus, being a cum laude didn't happen overnight, I worked hard for it!

I want this job. This is my dream job. Even before I graduated, I already imagined myself working here. Now that I almost have it, I don't know why such complications must arise. I'm already starting to have doubts with my career path. Sometimes, I can't help but question my decision to delay teaching so I can experience other opportunities. What if teaching is really my calling? Maybe the reason why I couldn't ace those job interviews is because I truly belong to a classroom with students listening to my lectures about the Crusade or Napoleon? What if my parents were right? That no matter how hard I try to run from it, I will always end up as a teacher?

I told myself that I want to experience the world before I start teaching. I want to take other opportunities. I want to travel. I want to see what's outside the box that I'm living in. But right now, all I want is to have a job so that I can finally ease my worries and have a peace of mind!

• Went to my best friend's house to talk and bond with her...

• Received an email from a company which I inquired about a possible job opportunity asking for my resume...
• Received a text from a recruitment firm which is asking me to come to their office tomorrow...

THURSDAY June 17, 2010

• Went to the said company for initial interview. I was overwhelmed with the depth of responsibilities I'll be taking in case I got accepted. The recruitment firm was actually looking for people to work for a multinational company. I was really surprised by that! 
• Finally, I got a text from the Publishing House which I've been raving and ranting about for weeks! They asked me to come to their office again tomorrow! I was really excited for this and I was also hoping that this will be the THIRD and FINAL INTERVIEW that they'll be conducting!

FRIDAY June 18, 2010

• Went to the Publishing House and I was interviewed by the Book Development Manager. She was scary! I left the office disappointed. One because I still have another interview to overcome! Drat, they're good at prolonging my agony! Two because they're offering me a VERY LOW Basic Salary! Lastly, this IS MY DREAM JOB... I don't care if  I'll work six days a week, sacrificing my social life and giving up my hopes for a love life in the process... all I want for an exchange is a better and higher pay! 
• Due to my disappointment, I texted my bestfriend so we could meet. 
• After meeting at a local McDonald's, I accompanied her to her university where she's meeting her friends from the campaign trail she joined before the May 10 Election...
• While at the gathering, I met people who offered me jobs! Can you believe that?! I was really happy!

SATURDAY June 19, 2010

• It's Jose Rizal's 149th birthday. Went to KOR and meet KAPARIZ friends for the celebration.

I'm still making decisions about my future job. The thing is, my choices are increasing and the opportunities are leveling up! The one which I inquired about a job via email scheduled me for an interview this coming Tuesday, June 22. I hope that it will result to something favorable and that they will give me a high salary! 

AJA!!! 

One Day
